| Find yourself a quiet comfortable spot where you will not be interrupted. Close your eyes. Sit comfortably and shake off any tension that you may be holding in your body. Pay particular attention to your shoulders, back, fingers and jaw. Take in a deep breath through your nose. Let it out slowly through your mouth. Do this four times, then go back to breathing normally. In your mind’s eye, picture yourself descending a stairway of ten steps. Count them as you go down. At the bottom, you find yourself standing a few steps away from a large door. The atmosphere is pleasant and the door is inviting. Walk towards the door taking one slow step after another. Open it and step through. On the other side, you find yourself in a beautiful garden. It is a pleasantly sunny day. You step onto the grass and notice how it feels under your feet. You take one slow step after another looking around you. Notice the smell in the air. Appreciate the warmth of the sun on the bare skin of your arms. Admire the variety of beautiful plants and flowers that abound. Listen … what do you hear? You notice a bench that is a few steps away from you. Go to it and sit down. Close your eyes while on the bench and invite the part of you that you would want to join you to present themself to you in the garden. Be still. Open your eyes while on the bench and look around the garden. Keep yourself open. The part may come in any form or not at all. If they come, be open to listening to them. Ask them what they would like you to know. Feel free to ask any clarifying questions and to answer any questions they may have. Once the conversation is over, thank them for having trusted you with the insights. Make your way back to the door, and walk out through it. Make your way back up the stairs. Take as long as you need to come back to yourself in present day, and then open your eyes. Take deep breaths if necessary. |
